Nikola Jokić's 50-Point Performance Leads Nuggets to Victory in Game 5
Denver's Star Center Dominates in Crucial Playoff Game
Nikola Jokić put on a historic performance on Sunday night, leading the Denver Nuggets to a 100-90 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 5 of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. Jokić scored a playoff career-high 50 points, grabbed 20 rebounds, and dished out 12 assists for a triple-double.
The Nuggets needed every bit of Jokić's production to pull out the victory, as the Celtics came out strong in the first half and led by as many as 12 points. However, Jokić and the Nuggets turned things around in the second half, outscoring the Celtics 56-38 to take the lead and eventually win the game.
Jokić's performance was all the more impressive considering that he was playing through an ankle injury. He aggravated the injury in the first half, but he returned to the game and played through the pain to lead his team to victory.
The Nuggets now hold a 3-2 lead in the series, and they will have a chance to close it out in Game 6 on Tuesday night in Denver. The Celtics, meanwhile, will need to find a way to stop Jokić if they want to extend the series to a Game 7.
